Southern Italy
Southern Italy was so much fun! The first day we got to naples and explored, while also doing our sketching assignment in the Spanish quarter. Got lunch for super cheap! we also got to see Castel San Elmo and Galleria Umberto. Later went for group dinner at a pizza place, it was really good. The next day we went to Capri. Capri was so beautiful. The water was crystal clear almost. It did seem alittle too expensive in the actual town area. After we got to the top of the city, we got to visit Casa Malaparte. It has to be one of the greatest architectural experiences of my life. The house is just so amazing and well designed. We spent pretty much the whole day there, but it was worth it. Later it was back to Naples.
The third day of the trip we traveled to Pozzuoli and Baia. Both were pretty awesome. Pozzuoli had some these ruins that were on top of a huge hill, we also had lunch there as well. Baia had ruins of the thermal baths. We got to see this one room were there was water and it echoed like crazy.... then everyone started to sing, haha. We ended the day with arriving at Castellammare di Stabiae.
The next was pretty epic. First We had the best cappuccino frozen thing i have ever had in my life. We visited Pompeii for the morning and Sorrento in the afternoon. Pompeii was so exciting. The ruins were so amazing, and you could explore most of the houses, which was nice because it gave a better vision of a roman city. We had lunch there as well. They we got to explore on our own for a little. I saw the baths and the plaster casts of people. I also did alittle bit of some sketching. Afterwards we visited Sorrento. It was a pretty small place. We visited some of the piazzas there, and then we went to see The church and cloister of St. Francis. It is at the egde of a cliff. It was a fun city to explore as well. After we did the sketching assignment for the day, we walked around and did some shopping. Later we returned the Institute we were staying at and had dinner.
The next day we had the morning to walk around Stabiae it was nice. The beach wasn't the greatest thing, but it was warm and sunny out. Then we left and went back to rome.
